Phyto Nova Sutherlandia

Sutherlandia is an indigenous South African plant which is a powerful immune booster, anti-oxidant, and has anti-inflammatory properties. It has a documented history of use since 1857, and has been used historically for treating many health conditions. Sutherlandia SU1™ is the special cultivated variety of Sutherlandia that has been scientifically studied, and presented at international conferences.

Phyto Nova Sutherlandia SU1™ is the only Sutherlandia that has been studied for safety by the Medical Research Council of South Africa. The Medical Research Council studied Phyto Nova's Sutherlandia SU1TM plant material in an independent safety evaluation in 2002. The results confirmed the safety of Phyto Nova's Sutherlandia SU1TM, including haematology, hepatic and renal functions.

The full safety study can be accessed at http://www.sahealthinfo.org/traditionalmeds/firststudy.html

Sutherlandia plants of the same species may appear identical externally but have major variations in chemical constituents due to genetic, climatic, altitudinal and soil factors. The Thin layer Chromatogram (TLC) below demonstrates the marked chemical variability in individual Sutherlandia plants.

  • Horizontal rows represent individual chemicals.
  • Intensity of colour is concentration related.
  • Vertical columns are individual Sutherlandia plants.

Using Phyto Nova SU1 Sutherlandia ensures a product with the same phytochemical profile as the safety studied and researched Sutherlandia SU1™.
